RECOVERY SUMMARY
Recovered wing images repeat the same brightness sequence across unequal movements. The comparisons use unconverted images and do not establish repeated pressure fluctuations.
EXTRACTED DATA
NASA's Oct 02, 2026 account places the Benchmark Supercritical Wing in NASA Langley’s Transonic Dynamics Tunnel. It describes a large-scale, freely moving model in a low‑oxygen environment. The coating varies in brightness according to how much pressure the air flow applies to the wing; high-speed cameras capture those changes for computer models.
GPI optical analyst Mara Vale received a camera package bearing the test designation through the SIGNAL extraction queue. Her work sheet calls for the variation between successive wing movements before any averaging. The package contains uncompressed images from separate camera positions.
The moving wing's luminous surface repeats a ragged sequence of brightening and dimming. Its motion changes between passes; the brightness sequence does not. Vale's work note reads: "I thought the viewer was looping a selection. Export the frames without the tracking overlay."
In the exported frames the wing reaches different positions, and the image grain changes around it. Vale compares the unregistered images directly, following a small patch of paint by its position on the wing. Its successive brightness values repeat through the same irregular rises and falls, without stretching either sequence to fit the other.
Vale opens the other camera's frames separately: the view is oblique, its grain differs, but the same fluctuations recur while the wing moves differently. Neither comparison uses a pressure conversion or an averaged image.
Vale leaves the uncertainty table unsigned. Her last instruction keeps the individual exposures attached to the modeling package: "Do not reduce this to the mean. I still need the scatter."
