RECOVERY SUMMARY A rack slot at a wildfire-salvage yard returns 38.7 millimeters of char depth for any beam placed there, and one segment was hand-counted present at two slots at once.
EXTRACTED DATA
38.7 millimeters of char depth, recorded at rack position C-206, twelve times running. Certifying signature authority for salvage logs was withdrawn from R.T. on June 30.
R.T. did not attend the Grand Canyon Lodge debris intake that week. The Dragon Bravo wildfire closure kept the original site sealed to visitors.
M.O. logged the shipment instead, following the training checklist issued to new catalogers. The reading went into the ledger alongside every other lot that month.
SALVAGE INTAKE TAG — PELSER TIMBER RECOVERY LLC Item: charred beam segment, Ranch House ash lot Rack position assigned: C-206 Received: 17:19:18 Logged by: M.O.
Every segment placed at C-206 logged the same char depth: 38.7 millimeters. A Lodge-fire segment, unrelated wood, unrelated fire, read 38.7 as well.
Moved one slot over, to C-207, the same segment read 21.4 millimeters instead. Nothing on either slot's dial, gauge, or airflow differed from the other.
Digital caliper CP-2, tolerance ±0.15 millimeters, produced the reading both times at C-206. A second caliper, CP-9, returned the identical figure without recalibration.
CP-9 was disassembled at the bench and reassembled without adjustment. The reading held once the jaws closed on the same segment again.
Rangefinder LR-4, tolerance ±0.5 millimeters, rechecked C-206 end-to-start instead of start-to-end. Its display pegged at 39.9, the top of its printed scale, and stopped there.
Dunmoss Metrology Services, contracted for outside confirmation, billed 350 for the same caliper method. Their gauge printed past its own upper limit and returned nothing further.
Twenty-five segments left the ash removal site under one manifest. The yard's intake log carries twenty-four tags for that same shipment.
D.H. was asked about the missing tag and said tagging was rack maintenance's business. Rack maintenance was not consulted before the shipment closed.
R.T. is off the certifying rota and has not requested reinstatement. He spends his shifts on the loading dock now, weighing crates that never reach C-206
INTEGRITY NOTES Recount at Pelser's bench returned 24 tags against the shipped 25; no third recount was ordered.
